This pair of fire tongs is the perfect tool for managing fires in style around the home or out at the fire pit. No two tongs are exactly alike, and yours can be personalized with the initials or nickname for that special someone, or to be an heirloom of the family. It's made in the traditional style of ironwork so this piece combines beauty, function and durability to be truly unique and outstanding.

Every pair is hand forged by artist blacksmith Tim Peel-Wickstrom, and stamped with the maker's mark to clearly show this is a handmade item. Finished with a simple and handsome linseed oil and beeswax coating, these tongs will last for generations with simple care. They are capable of holding fire logs up to 5" in diameter.

If you'd like your tongs to be personalized, I can stamp a name, initials or short message into one of the shafts near the handle.

We offer two sizes for the tongs: 25" and 35". The shorter pair is excellent for use in wood stoves or fireplaces. Go for the 35" length if you want to use them around the campfire or fire pit.

Finish: wire brush polish, protected with a linseed oil and beeswax coating. To maintain its finish, store in a place out of the weather and apply a light coating of oil once a year.

All of our items are forged from carbon steel, which is susceptible to rust. The best way to prevent rust forming on steel is to keep it clean and dry. Applying a light coating of oil such as vegetable or linseed also works well, especially for long term storage. Be sure to use a food safe oil on items that will be used for eating!

If rust happens to form on steel, it's not the end of the world. Take a brillo pad or other coarse scrubber and scrub the rust off with a little water. Once the rust is removed, thoroughly dry and oil the item well to prevent further rust from forming.

Blades such as garden tools and knives will benefit from regular honing, and occasional sharpening. Using a whetstone is the best method for both.
